Chicken Dipping Sauces


Around these parts, Wednesday night is chicken night. Me and Chris use to order out every Friday, and we would ask each other, “what do you want for lazy Friday?” Then we discovered one of our FAVORITE chicken places offer a huge discount on Wednesdays. So now we have chicken every Wednesday. No regrets. What makes this chicken so good is it’s one of those places with the spinning chicken machines. The chicken roasts and drips its fat on the chicken below it, so the chicken is constantly basting in chicken fat. SO. AMAZING. Since I don’t cook on Wednesday, I thought it would be cool to try out some homemade dipping sauces. Chris only enjoyed the mayonnaise based ones, but I think my favorite was the Asian sauce. Hope you like ALL of them!

Ingredients

Zaxby Copy Cat Sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayonaise
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tsp worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • pinch of salt and pepper

Asian Sauce

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp white wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sambal chili paste
  • 1 tbsp sliced green onion
  • 1 tsp minced ginger
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • a few dried chilis for garnish

Wasabi Mayo

  • 1/2 cup mayonaise
  • 1 tbsp wasabi
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

Sweet and Sour Sauce

  • 1/4 cup apricot jam
  • 1/8 cup water
  • 1 tbsp white wine vinegar
  • 1/2 tbsp soy sauce

Directions
For the first 3 sauces, just mix the ingredients until well combined. For the sweet and sour sauce, melt the jam in the microwave for about 30 seconds so it will mix easier. Chill all the sauces for at least an hour before serving so the flavors can meld.
